Here’s a little-known connection that makes this orange-and-green showdown even more special.
Dr. Sheldon McLean, who now helps lead the University of Miami athletic bands, is a proud Florida A&M University alumnus and former member of the legendary Marching 100!
McLean earned his bachelor’s degree from FAMU and participated in the Marching 100 before eventually bringing his musical leadership and experience to the University of Miami. Today, he serves as Assistant Director of Bands and Associate Director of Athletic Bands at UM’s Frost School of Music.
